Stamp Out Spiking are currently conducting the largest and most comprehensive research study ever done on spiking, and they need your help. Please click the link in the banner at the top of the page to complete the survey - all evidence will be taken to the government in their campaign to make spiking a seperate criminal offence.

HOW TO USE STOPTOPPS

1) Peel the foil and place over the top of your glass, bottle or can. 2) Fold down the sides to secure it to your drink. 3) Push a straw through the hole. 4) When finished, peel off the lid, be careful as the foil may have Sharpe edges, and recycle when possible.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE BEEN SPIKED

1. FIND A TRUSTED FRIEND, ADULT OR STAFF MEMBER AND TELL THEM THAT YOU THINK YOU HAVE BEEN SPIKED.
2. DO NOT DRINK THE REST OF YOUR DRINK.
3. TAKE IT BACK TO THE BAR AND TELL THEM THAT YOU SUSPECT YOU MAY HAVE BEEN SPIKED IN THIS VENUE.
4. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A TRUSTED FRIEND OR ADULT WITH YOU, YOU CAN ASK FOR ANGELA AT THE BAR.
5. THE BAR STAFF WILL UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE IN NEED OF HELP, AND PROVIDE DISCREET ASSISTANCE.
6. MAKE SURE YOU GET TO A SAFE PLACE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. DO NOT LEAVE THE VENUE WITH ANYONE THAT YOU DON'T KNOW OR TRUST.
7. SEEK ANY MEDICAL ATTENTION THAT YOU MAY NEED.
8.CALL 999 AND REQUEST AN AMBULANCE IF YOU EXPERIENCE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS THAT YOU DON'T USUALLY EXPERIENCE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL (IF YOU'VE BEEN DRINKING):

Lowered inhibitions
Difficulty concentrating or speaking.
Difficulty breathing, appearing intoxicated after consuming small amounts of alcohol (or none at all).
Loss of balance and finding it hard to move.
Visual problems, particularly blurred vision.
Memory loss or "blackouts" Feeling confused or disoriented, particularly after waking up (if you have been asleep)
Paranoia (a feeling of fear or distrust of others)
Hallucinations (seeing, hearing or touching things that aren't there) or having an "out of body" experience.
Loss of bowel or bladder control.
Sudden body temperature changes (sweating or chattering teeth are common signs of this).
Nausea and vomiting.
Loss of coordination.
Unconsciousness.

REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU EXPERIENCE ADVERSE SYMPTOMS OR NOT, MAKE SURE YOU REQUEST FOR YOUR BLOOD TO BE TAKEN, AND REPORT BEING SPIKED TO THE POLICE.

ARE YOU CONCERNED A FRIEND HAS BEEN SPIKED?

1. STAY WITH YOUR FRIEND AND KEEP TALKING TO THEM.
2. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR FRIEND WITH ANYONE WHO YOU DON'T KNOW, AND DO NOT LET THEM LEAVE WITH ANYONE YOU DON'T TRUST.
3. TAKE THEIR DRINK BACK TO THE BAR AND TELL THEM THAT YOU SUSPECT THEY MAY HAVE BEEN SPIKED IN THIS VENUE.
4. TRY TO PREVENT THEM FROM DRINKING ANY MORE ALCOHOL.
5. SEEK ANY MEDICAL ATTENTION THAT THEY MAY NEED. CALL 999 AND REQUEST AN AMBULANCE IF THEY EXPERIENCE ANY OF THE ABOVE SYMPTOMS THAT THEY DON'T USUALLY EXPERIENCE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL (IF THEY'VE BEEN DRINKING).

WHAT DOES DRINK SPIKING LOOK AND SMELL LIKE?

As a result of many date-rape drugs being tasteless, odourless and colourless, they are extremely hard to detect.
